After the Beirut explosion, BPW Australia donated a 40 ft. container of 93 sewing machines, 412 rolls of textiles, and 265 cartons of haberdashery.
Using this donation, BPW Lebanon took the initiative of allowing women in need of work to sew blankets and offer them to those affected by the blast at the beginning of autumn.
These women were paid for their hard work with the money donated by BPW International and ABWOC.
BPW Lebanon then launched a workshop managed by its members, allowing as many female workers as possible to take part and create and sell handmade designs, thus making a difference in their lives.
So far, two workshops have been launched in addition to the head workshop found in Jounieh, one in Abey and the other in Yahchoush.
The project has helped over 200 families in need and will hopefully be able to accommodate even more with the workshop's growth and development shortly.
